Travel directions (B73 6LH for the Miller & Carter pub)

Enter Sutton Park from the south via the Boldmere Gate entrance. Go west along Jockey Road and take the right hand turn into Stonehouse Lane (if approaching from the East the Sutton Park pub will be on your left & Sutton Runner will be on the right hand corner). Go over the next mini-roundabout and into the park. Go past Powell’s Pool, the Miller & Carter Steakhouse pub on your left and continue over 2 cattle-grids up the hill for about 600-800m. At the top take the left-hand turn and into the off-road car-park. The course will be on your right-hand side (commonly known as the Model Aircraft Flying Field). Mostly flat parkland along well-marked trails suitable for spikes.

  • Instructions:

From this fixture, a team will be selected(top 15 finishers) to represent West Midland Schools in the Inter-Counties fixture on Saturday 25th November which Warwickshire will be hosting (venue and full details available from WMSAA management, shortly). The County Championships will take place on 20th January 2018, at its regular home, Warley Woods in Smethwick. All 3 events will be used to select the West Midlands team for the ESAA Champs, which takes place at Temple Newsam Park, Leeds on 17th March 2018.

We will be carrying on with the recording system that we rolled out last year (i.e. numbers & recorded times).  All athletes will be given an individual number (as they would in a club-race) which must be securely pinned to the front of their vest/t-shirt. Safety-pins will be available on the day although we would ask athletes to bring their own pins where possible. Athletes will need to register and pick up their number at the tent situated by the start line, at least 1hr to 45mins before their race.

A course map will be provided on the day. Changing facilities are limited so you are advised to arrive changed. The course is suitable for spikes. If you do not possess any, your PE teacher may have some for you to borrow. Athletes should arrive at least an hour before their race to register with the Solihull Team Manager, to walk the course and to warm up. Entry cost is 50 pence per individual runner, payable to the Team Manager loaning out the blue Solihull vests (in the car park near the course start - usually from the Smith’s Wood Sports College minibus).
